I've been active in the financial service industry since 1995. After earning a bachelor's degree in Economics and Business from St. Norbert College (Wisconsin), my first stop was traditional banking and money management; and while this work was helpful, it lacked the opportunity for the impact I desired. I needed to find a place where I could do holistic, comprehensive work that tied together all aspects of financial planning. Northwestern Mutual emerged as the best choice as they were, at the same time, expanding their capabilities from solely insurance products to investments and retirement planning.

My individual practice began 15 years ago with a desire to shake loose from the institutional side of the investment business. I found this shift to be a perfect outlet for my “why” - a passion to engineer, build, and help - all stemming from the previous lack of good advice cascading through my family, altering our smooth road. After a year in practice, I fully committed to investing in my own abilities and went back to the books.

Investing in the academic approach, I added a number of credentials including a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) degree and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification. By doing so, I gained the confidence to completely engage in true financial planning and the ability to create individualized financial blueprints for each client.

This custom approach is like building your dream home; it has all the personal touches and features that make it unique to you. When building a home, the logical first step is to work with an architect to take your vision and expertly create a plan - the same holds true for your financial goals... Before I can speak intelligently about the services that might be the best fit for you and your family, I need to know your “vision”. I work closely with entrepreneurs, business owners, and families to help them realize their vision and build a blueprint for their path to optimized wealth and financial security.  


Designations

I've earned the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certifications, along with a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) degree.

The Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation focuses on the comprehensive financial planning process as an organized way to collect and analyze information on a client's total financial situation; to identify and establish specific financial goals; and to formulate, implement, and monitor a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. The ChFC® program provides financial services professionals with in-depth knowledge of the skills needed to perform comprehensive financial planning for their clients.


The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation is the undisputed professional credential for persons involved in the protection, accumulation, preservation, and distribution of the economic values of human life. The CLU® program provides insights into the life insurance business, its importance to the economy, its operation and distribution systems, and its resurging importance for safe and secure investments. CLU® designation is the common bond for continuing growth and commitment to professionalism.

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®)  practitioners are required to complete extensive exams in the areas of financial planning, taxes, insurance, estate planning and retirement planning. Attaining the CFP® designation takes experience and a substantial amount of work. CFP® professionals must also complete continuing education programs each year to maintain their certification status. Working with a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner guarantees that you are working with someone who has a high level of expertise in the field of financial planning.

Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) allows practitioners the ability to work effectively with high-net-worth clients. They will integrate ethical considerations into the financial planning process, and demonstrate mastery of knowledge in the wealth accumulation process. Practitioners will have the ability to work with business owners to develop compensation, succession planning, and retirement strategies.  In addition, guide individuals in the areas of tax minimization, retirement planning, and estate planning.
